Moyes expressed disappointment with the result and performance, citing a poor start and giving credit to Newcastle's experience from their Champions League games.
He noted that Newcastle's ability to defend and then counter-attack was a key factor in their success, adding, “They've got the ability to change players. They've got a lot of speed in the wide areas. They're spending big on centre-forwards and they're really powerful at the back, never mind talking about the midfield players.”
Moyes also acknowledged that his team is currently struggling to compete with the likes of Newcastle, stating, “We're a long way off being challenging the likes of a Newcastle at the moment. That's the levels we have to try and get to.”
He explained that his team's limited squad size due to injuries and suspensions made it difficult to make changes and try new things.
